How to Add New Activity Types in ACT!

You just don't know how successfull your Telemarketing is. How many calls have they made? How many decision maker contacts did they have today? Do they need training on getting past the gatekeeper? By adding a custom Activity Type to ACT with meaningfull outcomes this information can easily be gathered.

For example set-up a Type of Sales Call and have the outtcomes as follows:

  • Decision Maker Contact
  • Gatekeeper
  • Not available
  • Demo Booked

ACT! comes with six predefined activity types; Call, Meeting, To-do, Personal Activity, Support Ticket and Vacation. You may add possible result types to all existing activity types. You may rename the Personal Activity, Support Ticket and Vacation activity types or you may add new activity types. You may make activity types active or inactive. The default result types of Call, Meeting, or To-do cannot be edited or deleted. Follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Schedule menu, point to Manage and then click Types. The Manage Activity Types dialog appears.



  2. To add an additional Activity Type from the Manage Activity Types dialog, click the Add button. The following dialog appears.



  3. Type a name for this activity type in the Name: field, (if desired) click the Browse button to locate a different Icon:.
  4. Click the Add button to add another possible result (if desired). The Add Result Type dialog appears.



  5. Type the name of your result type into the Result name: field, and then click OK. Add other possible results or click OK again and your new activity type will appear on the Manage Activity Types list. (as illustrated below)



  6. To Edit an activity type, from the Manage Activity Types dialog, click the activity type you wish to edit, and then click the Edit button. The Edit Activity Type dialog appears.



  7. Clear the Active check box if you do not wish to allow new activities of this type. If this is NOT a Call, Meeting or To-do activity type, you may change the Name or click the Browse button to associate this activity type with a different icon.
  8. Click the Add button to add additional result names, and then click OK when the changes have been completed.
