Configure Lotus Notes® as your E-Mail Client in ACT!

Configure Lotus Notes® as your E-Mail Client in ACT!

Question
You would like to know how to configure ACT! 2009 to use Lotus Notes as an E-mail client.
 Answer
Note: ACT! expects when you choose Lotus Notes as your E-mail client in ACT! that it will be configuration to use the Domino server for messaging. E-mail will not send outbound if you have your Lotus Notes e-mail client configured to use a POP3 type messaging system and you have chosen to use the Lotus Notes e-mail client in ACT!. If your Lotus Notes e-mail is configured as a POP3 type of messages service, you can workaround this issue by using the built-in ACT! E-mail client (Internet Mail) in ACT!. For detailed information on how to setup Internet Mail, please refer to the following Knowledge Base Answer:

ACT! E-mail supports use of Lotus Notes version 6.5, 7.02 and 8.0. It is imperative that Lotus Notes e-mail function independently to send and receive e-mail messages prior to configuring this e-mail software to function through ACT!.

The following are considerations when using Lotus Notes with ACT!:
  • Some of the ACT! e-mail features are limited.
  • Lotus Notes requires a password to access the ID file.
  • Messages can only be sent in plain text.
  • For mail merges, the recipient will receive the body of the message in plain text format. Images in the e-mail are delivered as attachments. For more information, see E-mail system support for the HTML format.
  • If using this system to access Internet e-mail, consider using the ACT! Internet Mail instead.
